Protective Sealants to Block Out Cavities

Sealants make it possible to stop cavities before they start. Molars (back teeth) are more cavity-prone because of the deep grooves in them, and children have a harder time keeping them clean. Placing a sealant over those tiny fissures and pits blocks out acids and food particles, making it easier to clean them with a toothbrush.

Fluoride Treatments

A natural mineral, fluoride is found in everything from tap water to the foods we eat. Using it as a direct supplemental treatment can help strengthen teeth and even remineralize enamel that’s prone to decay. Our Houston children’s dentist recommends a fluoride treatment after every checkup.

If your child or teen is cavity prone, we can write a prescription for a special gel to use at home. This concentration of fluoride is especially useful for kids in braces!
